Your price from Miami Beach to PortMiami

Which way we drive from Miami Beach

Miami Beach is a long barrier island, and where your hotel sits decides the causeway:

  • South of about 23rd Street: west on the MacArthur Causeway (I-395) and through the PortMiami Tunnel, which runs from Watson Island straight onto Dodge Island — the most direct route to the terminals. See our South Beach page.
  • Mid-Beach (roughly 23rd–63rd Street): either the Julia Tuttle Causeway (I-195) to I-95/I-395, or south on Collins/Alton Road to the MacArthur. Your chauffeur picks whichever is moving on the morning.
  • North Beach, Surfside and Bal Harbour: the John F. Kennedy (71st Street) or Julia Tuttle causeway, then Biscayne Boulevard or I-95 south. Allow the top of the time range.

How hotel pickup works on Miami Beach

Collins Avenue resorts mostly have a porte-cochère or valet lane; your chauffeur stages there and the bell staff can bring your bags out. Condo buildings and rentals often have valet-only or gated entrances — give us the building name and any gate code, and we will meet you at the lobby door rather than on the street.

Leaving bags with the hotel? Many beach hotels hold luggage after check-out. Cruise travelers usually do not need this — we load straight from the lobby to the terminal porters.

When to leave Miami Beach on sailing day

Your terminal check-in timeRecommended pickup from Miami Beach
11:00 AM10:00 AM
12:00 PM11:00 AM
1:00 PM12:00 PM
2:00 PM1:00 PM

Most cruise lines give each guest a check-in (arrival) time during online check-in, and ask everyone to be aboard 60–90 minutes before sailing. These pickup times allow for a cruise-morning drive plus a 20-minute buffer for luggage drop and terminal queues.

Weekend and holiday traffic on the causeways is heavier than many visitors expect, and major events — Miami Music Week in March, Art Basel Miami Beach in December, spring-break weekends — add delays.

Private transfer vs taxi or rideshare from Miami Beach

From a beach hotel, the question is usually luggage and timing rather than price. A rideshare for two with carry-ons is often cheaper. For a family of four with four suitcases, a Chevy Suburban at $148 door-to-door is a known cost, and the vehicle is sized for the bags.
