The short way to the ships

You can see the cruise ships from the MacArthur Causeway. From South Beach we take the causeway west to Watson Island and the PortMiami Tunnel, which runs under the shipping channel straight onto Dodge Island — no downtown streets, no Port Boulevard bridge queue. On a clear morning that is 15 minutes door to terminal.

Picking up in the Art Deco District

  • Ocean Drive: large parts are pedestrian-only or restricted to traffic at times, so many Ocean Drive hotels use a side-street or Collins Avenue entrance for vehicles. We confirm the exact loading point with you.
  • Collins and Washington Avenues: your chauffeur stages at the hotel's loading zone or valet lane.
  • South of Fifth: condo towers with gated drives — share the building name and gate details.
  • Vacation rentals: pickup at your address; if the street is narrow or one-way we'll text the nearest legal stopping point.

When to leave South Beach

Your terminal check-in timeRecommended pickup from South Beach

1:00 PM12:15 PM
2:00 PM1:15 PM

Most cruise lines give each guest a check-in (arrival) time during online check-in, and ask everyone to be aboard 60–90 minutes before sailing. These pickup times allow for a cruise-morning drive plus a 20-minute buffer for luggage drop and terminal queues.

The causeway is short but it is the only direct link, so a single breakdown or a heavy event weekend changes the picture. We build the buffer in.

Frequently asked questions

How much is a transfer from South Beach to PortMiami?

$113 for an executive sedan, $148 for a Chevy Suburban, $133 for a Private Large Van (up to 6) and $352 for a 14-seat Limo Sprinter, all-inclusive.

How long does it take to get from South Beach to the cruise port?

15–25 minutes via the MacArthur Causeway and the PortMiami Tunnel.

Can you pick up on Ocean Drive?

Yes, at the hotel's vehicle entrance; parts of Ocean Drive are closed to traffic, so we confirm the loading point with you.

Is it worth booking a private transfer for such a short ride?

For two people with light bags, a taxi or rideshare is fine. With cruise luggage, kids or a fixed check-in time, a pre-booked vehicle removes the guesswork.
